In agreement with this notion, we found that the coexpression of AIB1 and HBx synergistically induced MMP-9 expression through enhancement of the transactivation activity of NF-κB and AP-1 and, subsequently,

promoted HCC invasion. Cooperative effects of HBx and AIB1 on HCC progression may result in an earlier onset and diagnosis of the disease in patients with AIB1/HBx double-positive HCC.
