Hypertension and high LDL-C were independent correlates; identifying these risk factors early and treating to target is recommended. (C) 2009 Published by Elsevier B.V.”
“This work aims to develop and validate a simple methodology to quantify the most used learn more antiretroviral, zidovudine (AZT), in rat plasma for preclinical studies. Some assays have been previously reported to quantify AZT in plasma; however, the majority of these methods uses complicated extraction methods. This method uses only 100 mu
L plasma samples, which were precipitated with 100 mu L acidified acetonitrile containing an internal standard (IS). The plasma extracts were injected directly in a chromatographic system consisting of a UV-Vis detector (set at 266 nm) and an RP-C18 column. The mobile phase was an isocratic mixture of acetonitrile, methanol and 0.01% v/v aqueous formic acid (20: 20: 60 v/v/v) at a flow rate of 0.8 mL/min. Intra- and inter-day assay precision and accuracy variability were lower than 20% for the limit of quantification and 15% for higher concentrations. The applicability of the method was demonstrated by an in vivo
study performed in rats. They were treated orally with an AZT-containing syrup and intravenously with an AZT solution. The calculated bioavailability of the syrup (56.7%) was in accordance with the literature. Therefore, this method can be used as an alternative to quantify plasma AZT in preclinical studies.”
“The combined production of biomass, hyaluronic acid (HA) and lactic
acid (LA) in this website a glucose fed-batch system was studied. The complex culture media used were formulated with commercial and residual peptones from fish by-products. In all cases, fed-batch fermentations increased the productive period of HA and LA. Tryptone led to the highest productions but with the peptones from shark by-products similar LA concentrations and prominent HA levels were reached. Moreover, with this residual peptone higher molecular weight of HA were achieved. On the other hand, Cyclosporin A the equations proposed adjusted with accuracy and high statistical robustness the experimental kinetic profiles. (C) 2008 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.”
“In this paper we report the synthesis and magnetic properties of CoFe2O4 nanoparticles. The nanoparticles with sizes ranging from 6 to 20 nm were prepared in a chitosan matrix. Size selection was achieved by introducing a nonionic surfactant Tween-X, where X=20, 60, 80, and 85. Aqueous dispersions of Tween-X show micelles with increasing hydrodynamic sizes as X increases. Mossbauer spectroscopy measurements at 300 K show superparamagnetic behavior for the small particles, changing gradually to a blocked magnetic regime as the particle size increases. Magnetization measurements at 300 K show increasing values for the ratio M-r/M-Hmax and coercive fields (H-c). (C) 2010 American Institute of Physics. [doi: 10.1063/1.
